HBO’s latest Game Of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been a major success that a second season has already been ordered. The second season is set for a 2027 release window, yet there has been a production hurdle that has caused filming for the second season to stop.
For those who don’t know, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms tells a story about a hedge knight named Ser Duncan the Tall. In the first season we see Duncan try to enter a jousting tournament and befriends a little boy named Egg. Egg squires for Duncan and the two build a great friendship. However, Duncan runs into trouble after striking a Targaryen prince named Aerion. After being apart of a “Trial of Seven” Duncan is like a champion of the people and leaves Ashford Meadows to continue his adventure as a hedge knight with Egg by his side.
According to Comicbook, filming came to a pause when floods had occurred forcing HBO to shutdown production. However, this does not mean that the second season will be canceled because of it. The flooding brings a sense of irony behind season two because it is adapting the book The Sworn Sword, which takes place in a great drought in Westeros. The drought, becomes embroiled in a feud between a knight and a lady over a stream. Once the flooding has place, hopefully filming will resume promptly.
The cast consists of Peter Claffey (Bad Sisters, Borderline), Dexter Sol Ansell (500 Miles, Here), Daniel Ings (The Woman in Cabin 10, Plastic Surgery), Shaun Thomas (The Choral, Rocket Fuel), Danny Webb (On the Sea, Elden Ring: Nightreign), Finn Bennett (Eye for an Eye, Warfare), Dainel Monks (Waiting for the Out, All Her Fault), Lucy Boynton (See You When I See You, The Greatest Hits), Peter Mullan (The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford, Steal), Paul Chahidi (Good Omens, The Night Manager), and Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth, Black Doves).
In the meantime you can watch the first season of the show on HBO Max. In other news, HBO’s second Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon season three is set to premiere this coming June.
