‘FBI: Most Wanted’ Star Miguel Gomez Departs CBS Series After Two Seasons

CBS’ FBI franchise will miss a series regular in the fall TV season. Deadline reports Miguel Gomez (The Strain, LA’s Finest) is exiting the spinoff series, FBI: Most Wanted, after two seasons. The actor who portrayed Special Agent Ivan Ortiz cited his departure as a creative decision.

FBI: Most Wanted is one of three FBI series at CBS all from the crime procedural maestro himself, Dick Wolf (Chicago MED, Law & Order). The original series, FBI, premiered in 2018 and follows New York’s finest agents of the bureau as they fight the highest threats in the Big Apple. Most Wanted would arrive two years later, upping the ante by centering on the most dangerous fugitives across the country. Finally, FBI: International premiered in September of last year.

According to Deadline, fans of Gomez’s Ortiz won’t have to worry about any loose ends with the character. The actor’s departure was buttoned in the season three finale. The Los Angeles native who began as part of the LAPD’s Gang Unit finished the season by returning home to care for his sick father.

This is the second main cast shakeup for FBI: Most Wanted. For season three, original cast member and lead, Julian McMahon (Charmed, Nip/Tuck), exited the series and was replaced by Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Dylan McDermott. McDermott will continue in the lead role into season four. Gomez, who joined the show midway through season two, leaves behind a cast that includes Alexa Davalos (The Man in the High Castle, Defiance), Roxy Sternberg (Famalam, It’s A Lot), and Keisha Castle-Hughes (Game of Thrones, Whale Rider).

According to Deadline, the FBI franchise is produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal TV. Executive producers include Arthur W. Forney (L&O: Criminal Intent, L&O: Trial By Jury), David Hudgins (Friday Night Lights, Game of Silence), Ken Girotti (Hangman, Orphan Black), Wolf Entertainment’s President & COO Peter Jankowski (When You’re Strange, Twin Towers), Terry Miller (Transporter 2, Changing the Game), and Wolf.

The fourth season of FBI: Most Wanted is slated to return on September 20 on CBS.
