‘The Falcon and The Winter Soldier:’ First-Look Trailer From Disney+’s Marvel Series Released

Disney released the first look at the long-awaited Marvel series The Falcon and The Winter Solider for Disney+. According to Deadline, the trailer dropped as part of the Disney Investor Day presentation. Starring Anthony Mackie (Black Mirror, The Hate U Give) and Sebastian Stan (I, Tonya, The Last Full Measure), the series will follow the heroic odd couple after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Check out the trailer below:

The trailer looks to pick up sometime after Steve Rogers’ retirement and even alludes that Rogers may be deceased. He left the shield and mantel of Captain America in the hands of fellow Avenger and friend, Mackie’s Sam Wilson aka The Falcon. But with the void of America’s first avenger, the transition from sidekick to the embodiment of heroism won’t be easy. Mackie is joined by Stan’s Buckey Barnes aka Winter Soldier as they team up to restore a sense of security as the world is haunted by a new threat.

The trailer depicts a return to the grounded espionage action of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Between Bucky’s metal arm and Falcon’s lethally-armed mechanical wings, the show looks to pack cinematic-level action sequences. One scene shows Falcon swooping through a mountainous canyon as an armed helicopter fires missiles in his wake. We even see a glimpse of Captain America: Civil War villain Helmut Zemo portrayed by Daniel Bruhl (The Alienist, Rush).

According to Deadline, the six-episode series also stars film regular Emily VanCamp (Revenge, The Resident) as Kate/Agent 13. Additional cast members include Wyatt Russell (The Good Lord Bird, Lodge 49), Carl Lumbly (Little Fires Everywhere, Alias), Noah Mills (The Enemy Within, The Brave), Desmond Chaim (The Shannara Chronicles, Magic Camp), and Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy, 9-1-1). Directed by Kari Skogland (Fifty Dead Men Walking, The Stone Angel), The Falcon and The Winter Soldier streams on Disney+ on March 19. The series was originally set for an August 2020 release, but COVID precautions delayed production.
