Executive Producer Bill Wolff Leaves Netflix’s ‘Chelsea’

Chelsea has already lost its executive producer and showrunner.

Emmy-winner Bill Wolff (The View, The Rachel Maddow Show) is leaving Chelsea Handler’s brand new Netflix talk show just three weeks into its run, Deadline reports. Episode nine of the series, with guest Ashton Kutcher, was the last with Wolff at the helm as showrunner. Though Wolff’s departure is sudden, it will not disrupt Chelsea‘s production schedule. The streaming service’s talk show is set to shoot through December as scheduled. So far there are no signs that Wolff will be replaced as showrunner.

On the topic of his departure, Wolff said, “I am excited for Chelsea as she continues to produce her singular vision for a television talk show. My friends at Netflix provide the foremost platform in developing ambitions and compelling creative content.”

Chelsea Handler had little to offer on Wolff’s decision to leave, simply saying, “I’m grateful that Bill was part of the pioneering effort to get Netflix’s first talk show off the ground.”

Chelsea releases three episodes a week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This year Netflix’s first talk show is set for 90 episodes. Besides Kutcher, Handler’s guests so far have included Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tony Hale, Gwen Stefani, Wanda Sykes, Christina Aguilera, Barbara Boxer, Rachel Bloom and the cast of Captain America: Civil WarChelsea is not Handler’s only series with Netflix. Handler also has her docuseries Chelsea Does on the streaming service, in which she explores topics like marriage, technology, racism and drugs.
