Elodie Yung Returns to Marvel for ‘The Defenders’

The Defenders is getting another superhero.

This year, Elodie Yung played the newest iteration of Elektra in Netflix’s Daredevil. With Elektra’s whip-smart dialogue and intense physical scenes, it was upsetting to see her (spoiler alert for the second season of Daredevil!) death shoehorned into the season finale. However, according to comicbookmovie.com, Elektra’s time may not be over.

Even with Elektra’s body under the control of The Hand, Marvel has confirmed that her character will return as a series regular in the upcoming Netflix series The Defenders. The series both brings together familiar superheroes (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage) with the not yet familiar (Man Without Fear, Iron Fist). With the addition of Elektra in her character’s current straits, it makes sense that the team’s first big bad could be The Hand.

With this new possible villain and Elektra’s precarious position in his hands (no pun intended), what does this mean for her character? Will she be a tool of The Hand? Or will she somehow manage to break free and join the rest of her companions as a member of the Defenders? Marvel fans should also keep in mind Sigourney Weaver’s mystery upcoming villainous role: how will she work alongside The Hand and/or Elektra? Only time will tell.

The Defenders is expected on Netflix in 2017.
