Ellen DeGeneres Signs New Three Year Deal For Talk Show

Yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres announced her popular talk show will continue on for three  more seasons, after she signed a deal  that extends The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s run up until 2022. “I’m excited to announce that I’ll be doing my show for three more years,” DeGeneres announced during a May 21st taping. “Mostly because I love doing it so much every day but also because that takes me to the end of my car lease.”

In December of 2018, audiences thought DeGeneres would leave her show after her 2020 contract ended. With DeGeneres confirming that she switches back and forth from a concrete decision “all the time” when it comes to deciding the fate of her show. But now, fans’ fears can be laid to rest after her recent announcement. The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been renewed for the 2019-20 season, while being picked up by NBC Owned Television Stations (10 stations) and Hearst Television (22 stations) through the 2021-22 season.

“Ellen is, quite simply, a force of nature,” said Peter Roth, President & Chief Content Officer at WB’s Television Group. “Her energy, intelligence, kindness and creativity know no bounds. Whether it’s her instant connection to her guests on her flagship talk show, her warm and funny hosting on Game of Games or the infectious enthusiasm she shares in producing everything from Little Big Shots to the animated antics of Green Eggs and Ham, it’s an honor to work alongside her.”

President of WB’s Unscripted and Alternative Television, Mike Darnell, commented, “It has been a true honor and a privilege to work with Ellen and her extraordinary team. The show itself is simply the best in the business – daytime or late night. Not to mention the amazing work she does literally everywhere on TV – from network to cable to streaming to digital – there is no one better.”

Even despite being ranked as one of the top-rated talk shows on television, the comedienne continues to be a beacon of kindness and light hearted fun, while still maintaining an air of humbleness. Viewers can still look forward to DeGeneres’ celebrity interviews, zany musical performances, and immersive human-interest stories for her show’s 17th season, which will premiere on Monday, September 9th.
