According to Deadline, Drop Dead Diva had a brief cancellation a year ago and was brought back with a fifth season pickup. It received a 13-episode renewal for a sixth season. The new season premieres on March 23 with a two-hour premiere. The resurrection of the series may have aided Lifetime’s freshman series performance of Devious Maids and The Witches Of East End. Both received second-season renewals. Lifetime is also launching new hour-long series, Un-Real and The Lottery.

Drop Dead Diva stars Brooke Elliott, Margaret Cho, Jackson Hurst, Kate Levering, April Bowlby, Lex Medlin and Justin Deeley. It centers on Deb, a shallow model who dies and resurfaces in the body of brilliant, plus-sized attorney, Jane.

Josh Berman created the series, he also executive produces with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron from Storyline Entertainment and Robert J. Wilson.
