DreamWorks Unleashes ‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ Teaser for Netflix Series

Netflix has teamed up with DreamWorks Animation for a new series inspired by the Jurassic World franchise. Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will exist in the same timeline as the 2015 film, following a group of teenagers as they experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure camp on Isla Nublar. When dinosaurs wreak havoc on the island, the campers find themselves stranded and are forced to survive the threat of dinosaurs.

Camp Cretaceous is the latest result of a five-year deal between Dreamworks and Netflix that has led to shows such as She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Dreamworks Dragons, The Boss Baby: Back in Business, and Guilermo Del Toro’s “Tales of Arcadia” trilogy. Upcoming releases from Dreamworks Animation include Archibald’s Next Big Thing from executive producer Tony Hale and the highly-anticipated Fast & Furious animated series, which will debut on Netflix this year. The Netflix-DreamWorks partnership has produced an impressive 18 series that have debuted on the streamer.

The trailer features a realistically-animated velociraptor in the jungle, investigating its surroundings and lunging toward the audience. The teenagers will be portrayed by real actors, combining live-action characters with animated ones.

Jurassic Park director and franchise producer Steven Spielberg, and Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, are executive producers for Camp Cretaceous. Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) and Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) will serve as showrunners, and Zack Stenz will serve as a consulting producer.

From Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, the Jurassic World franchise is a five billion-dollar film series that transports audiences to a world where dinosaurs and humans coexist. Jurassic World 3 will hit theaters in 2021.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will debut in 2020 on Netflix. As of yet, no specific release date has been announced.
