Via a report by Comicbook.com, the fans of Doctor Who can rejoice as production for season two has officially concluded. This exciting news was confirmed by showrunner Russell T Davies (Its A Sin, Cucumber, Torchwood), who took to Instagram over Memorial Day weekend to share the milestone.
Davies posted a celebratory photo from the Doctor Who season two wrap party, featuring himself and Michelle Greenidge (Mandy, The Art Of Love, Code 404), who portrays Carla Sunday, the adoptive mother of Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, the Doctor’s current companion.
According to Comicbook.com, Davies captioned the post with enthusiasm, “Wrap party with @miche_greenidge and a beautiful Cardiff Bay. That’s season two complete, well-done everyone! @bbcdoctorwho @disneyplus @doctorwho_magazine @bbciplayer.”
Season two promises to deliver more thrilling adventures with the Fifteenth Doctor, portrayed by Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, Barbie, Masters Of The Air). The Doctor and Ruby Sunday embark on infinite escapades through time and space in the TARDIS, encountering historical and futuristic settings. The stakes for the Doctor have never been higher following the shocking revelation that the Doctor is the Timeless Child, the last of the Time Lords.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Davies elaborated on the implications of this twist. “Gallifrey was brought back to life and then destroyed again,” he explained. “I think that kind of says it’s inevitable, and I like that fact. I like the phrase ‘The last of the Time Lords.’ It makes him legendary, makes him unique. It makes him scary in some ways, and makes him precious.”
As mentioned by Comicbook.com, season two will also feature a star-studded lineup of guest stars, including Aneurin Barnard (1899, The Goldfinch, Dead In A Week), Anita Dobson (The Long Call, London Road, Freddie Mercury: The Final Act), Yasmin Finney (Heartstopper, Anything’s Possible) and many more.
The new episodes will stream on Disney+ while also airing on BBC One, ensuring fans worldwide can join in the excitement. For those yet to subscribe to Disney+, this season of Doctor Who offers a compelling reason to sign up and experience the timeless adventures of the Doctor.
