Disney+’s Marvel Studios Series ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ Breaks The Record As The Most Watched Show Ever

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier breaks the record as the most watched show ever on Disney+ streaming network, according to a press release by Disney. The Marvel Studios produced live action series premiered last week with an amazing reception for its opening weekend, Friday March 19 to Sunday, March 22. The latest installment of Marvel Studios’ series lineup edges out on top compared to all previous opening weekends on the network.

News of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier comes after Marvel Studios’ first ever live action series on Disney+, WandaVision and the season two premiere of Lucasfilms’ The Mandalorian. Live action series WandaVision and The Mandalorian previously held the coveted title but now they round out the top three of Disney+’s top viewed shows.

Marvel Studios’ The Falcon And The Winter Soldier brings back Anthony Mackie (8 Mile) and Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl) in their roles of Sam Wilson/The Falcon and Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier. The dynamic duo last teamed up before the blip in the film Avengers: Infinity War. The series takes place after they reemerge from the events of Avengers: Endgame which reversed the blip. The pair adjust to the new world they live in and while dealing the aftermath of the one they were absent from.

Directed by Kari Skogland (Fifty Dead Men Walking) with Malcolm Spellman (Our Family Wedding) as the head writer, the six episode series centers around the two teaming up on a global adventure that tests their abilities as well as their patience. The series features Daniel Bruhl (The Alienist) returning as Zemo and Emily VanCamp (Revenge) as Sharon Carter from Captain America: Civil War, in addition Wyatt Russell (Overlord) plays the role of John Walker. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier debuted worldwide on Disney+ March 19, 2021.
