Disney+ Unveils Summer Lineup Of Three New ‘The Simpsons’ Episodes

Disney+ has announced three all-new exclusive episodes of The Simpsons that will debut throughout summer 2026, according to Disney+ press release. The announcement comes shortly after the animated comedy reached its milestone 800th episode, continuing Disney+’s partnership with one of television’s longest-running series.

The press release reports that the first episode, the double-episode special Extreme Makeover: Homer Edition, premieres June 17 exclusively on Disney+. In the episode, Homer and Marge’s date night takes an unexpected turn after Marge discovers Homer left the children home alone with only doorbell camera watching over them. The situation leads Marge to imagine several alternate versions of Homer in a trilogy of fantasy stories. The special features guest star Betty Gilpin (GLOW, American Primeval), along with musical guests Laufey and Tegan and Sara.

The second exclusive, Simpsley, arrives July 3. The noir-inspired story follows Marge Bouvier, a struggling con artist sent to Italy to convince a wealthy Seymour Skinner to return home. Her plans become increasingly complicated by Homer Simpsley, a freeloading houseguest whose presence threatens to derail the mission.

The final summer release, Yellow Mirror, premieres August 26. The episode contains two darker stories, including one centered on a defective lamp that alters Homer’s perception of reality and another involving an AI-powered tablet that forms a relationship with Maggie Simpson.

The long-running animated series was created by Matt Groening (Futurama, Disenchantment) and stars Dan Castellaneta (The Simpsons, Futurama), Nancy Cartwright (The Simpsons, Kim Possible), Julie Kavner (The Simpsons, Rhoda), and Yeardley Smith (The Simpsons, Maximum Overdrive). Disney+ noted that the new releases continue a growing collection of streaming-exclusive Simpsons content available on the platform.

mxdwn has previously covered the cultural impact of The Simpsons beyond the series itself. One earlier report focused on R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe (Automatic for the People, Monster), who reflected on his guest appearance on the show in an Instagram post.

That coverage highlighted how The Simpsons has spent decades bringing musicians, actors, and public figures into Springfield, helping create one of television’s most recognizable collections of celebrity cameos. It also underscored the series’ enduring influence on both pop culture and the entertainment industry.

The newly announced Disney+ exclusives continue that legacy while giving fans three new stories to look forward to this summer.
