Disney+ ‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Unveils Premiere Date and Teaser Trailer

The upcoming reboot series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, of the 1990s Mighty Ducks film franchise, has revealed that the series will come to the Disney+ streaming platform on March 26 in a new teaser trailer, according to Deadline. Centering on the scene of youth hockey once more, Disney+ is preparing for a new installment to the beloved 90s tales. The reboot series was created by the original films’ writer and creator in Steve Brill (Mr. Deeds) and will include assistance from frequent collaborators Cathy Yuspa (13 Going on 30) and Josh Goldsmith (The King of Queens) as the show’s showrunners.

The Mighty Ducks films centered on a group of misfits trying their hands at the Minnesota youth hockey circuit under the tutelage of Coach Gordon Bombay. The films prized the narrative as a classic underdog story. However, for the Disney+ television series, the Mighty Ducks travel team has become a powerhouse on the hockey circuit, leaving no room for the underdog.

The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers will follow the 12-year-old Evan and his journey following his unfortunate tryout with the Mighty Ducks team. Following his cut, Evan and his mother Alex begin on a mission to establish a new youth hockey team to challenge the Mighty Ducks, signaling the underdog spirit that was established in the original films. During their mission, they encounter Bombay and enlist him to coach the new youth team. The Disney+ original will have a ten-episode first season.

The series’ cast includes Emilio Estevez (The Breakfast Club) reprising his role as Coach Bombay from the 90s films in addition to Brady Noon (Good Boys, Boardwalk Empire) as Evan Morrow, and Lauren Graham (Parenthood, Gilmore Girls) as his mother Alex Morrow.
