Disney decides to finally let everyone get a first glimpse of the trailer for the new show Zootopia+. The trailer was released Monday, November 7, 2022, just two days before its official debut on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, according to ComicBook.
The Academy Award-winning movie Zootopia is making its comeback through a new spinoff series six years after its release in theaters. Zootopia+ is a set of shorts that all occur within the Zootopia universe, presenting a glimpse of the lives of other characters that weren’t as participating in the film, according to ComicBook.
According to FirstShowing, the episodes of Zootopia+ involves an action parody that stars Bonnie and Stu Hopps; a musical starring Duke Weaselton; a Real Housewives caricature with Fru-Fru; a film noir parody with Mr. Big; a dance competition segment with Clawhauser, Bogo, Gazelle; and a romantic comedy parody with Flash and Priscilla. There will also be cameos of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps.
The original cast members of Zootopia will all be reprising their roles, and that includes Octavia Spencer (The Help, Hidden Figures), Idris Elba (The Losers, Daddy’s Little Girls), Don Lake (Dumb and Dumber To, Space Force), Jenny Slate (The Secret Life of Pets, Gifted), Bonnie Hunt (Rain Man, Jumanji), Alan Tudyk (I, Robot, A Knight’s Tale), Nate Torrence (Get Smart, She’s Out of My League), J.K. Simmons (Juno, Spider-Man), and Tommy Chong (Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, Nice Dreams).
Via ScreenRant, during Disney’s big investors’ meeting in December 2020, Disney made a few announcements about movies and television shows coming to Disney+. Among the announcements made was the reveal that Walt Disney Animation Studios was developing short-form television shows based on a few of their biggest hits. Of the hits, the first one to debut was Baymax!, which aired its debut in June 2022.
Directors of the film Rich Moore (Futurama, Wreck-It Ralph) and Byron Howard (Bolt, Entangled) have both mutually expressed an interest in doing a sequel to the film, Zootopia 2, and claim to have already had ideas for what a sequel could be about.
Zootopia+ can be streamed on Disney+.
