Disney Television Animation launched production of a new animated series, Pickle & Peanut, starring Jon Heder and Johnny Pemberton.
According to Deadline, the animated series centers on an emotional pickle and a freewheeling peanut. Heder and Pemberton will provide the voices of the two main characters, which is set for fall 2015. It will have a mix of 2D animation and live-action to tell the story of these two small-town underdogs.
Noah Z. Jones (Fish Hooks) created Pickle & Peanut. Joel Trussell (Yo Gabba Gabba!) developed the series and serves as executive producer along with Jones developed it.
“We see very few pitches that are as funny and original as Pickle & Peanut,” said Eric Coleman, SVP Original Series at Disney TV Animation. “We instantly fell in love with these characters, and Noah and Joel have built a world with a visual style and sensibility unlike anything on TV.”
Disney also ordered a third season of the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts and a second season of Craig McCracken’s comedy Wander Over Yonder.
