This morning, Disney Channel announced that they are giving Girl Meets World a series order!
The show, a spin-off of the 90s comedy Boy Meets World, will focus on tween Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her experiences in the seventh grade. Boy Meets World sweethearts Cory and Topanga, played by Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, are reunited as Riley’s parents in the new series.
Vulture reveals a few interesting pieces of information about the show, first explaining that the series will be set in New York City. Sabrina Carpenter will star as Riley’s best friend, Maya. Cory is the girls’ new history teacher while mom, Topanga, owns the popular after-school hangout. Looks like life for seventh-grade Riley will not be so drama-free after all.
Girl Meets World will film in Los Angeles this summer, but will not premiere until 2014.
