According to Variety, Disney+ has just cast David Schwimmer (Friends, Six Days Seven Nights) for the second season of their Goosebumps series. The second season was announced in February following the success of the first, with information that the series will take an anthology route with a new story and cast. Schwimmer will be taking on the role of Anthony, a botany professor in the second installment of the series.
According to Variety, Anthony is “a former botany professor and divorced parent of teenage twins whose world takes a tumultuous turn as he juggles the responsibilities of overseeing an aging parent while having his kids for the summer.”
According to Variety, the official description for the second season of the series is as follows: “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”
The Disney+ Goosebumps series is based on the book series by R.L. Stine (The Haunted Mask) with the same name. Season one of the series premiered on the streamer in October of 2023. The season follows a group of high schoolers who embark on a dark journey to investigate a tragic passing that’s over three decades old.
The first season of the anthology cast included Justin Long (Galaxy Quest, Jeepers Creepers) as Nathan Bratt, Rachael Harris (Lucifer, Suits) as Nora Parker, Will Price (Isle Child, The Mosquito Coast) as Lucas Parker, Ana Yi Puig (Senior Year, Jade Armor) as Isabella Chen Lopez, Miles McKenna (Guilty Party, Normal British Series) as James, Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard, Takers) as Margot Stokes, and Zack Morris (Jericho Ridge, Children in Need) as Isaiah Howard.
The first season of Goosebumps is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
