Disney+ Cancels Comedy Series ‘The Muppets Mayhem’

The comedy series The Muppets Mayhem was created by Adam F. Goldberg (The Goldbergs, Schooled), Bill Barretta (The Muppets, Muppets Tonight), and Jeff Yorkes (Drew: The Man Behind the Poster, Grand Theft Auto IV). The first season of the series debuted in May 2023. According to Deadline, more than six months later, the series The Muppets Mayhem has been canceled.

The first season of The Muppets Mayhem consists of ten episodes. The series revolves around the band called The Electric Mayhem who have to navigate the music industry with the help of Nora, played by Lilly Singh (The Bad Guys, Dollface), who works at Wax Town Records.

The Electric Mayhem involves Dr. Teeth, voiced by Barretta, Zoot, voiced by Dave Goelz (Fraggle Rock, Muppets Haunted Mansion), Animal, voiced by Eric Jacobson (The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted), Lips, voiced by Peter Linz (The Puzzle Place, Bear in the Big Blue House), Janice, voiced by David Rudman (Sesame Street, Donkey Hodie), and Floyd, voiced by Matt Vogel (Muppets Most Wanted, Muppets Haunted Mansion).

In addition to Goldberg and Barretta, executive producers include Michael Bostick (From the Earth to the Moon, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island), Kris Eber (Dave, Mapleworth Murders), David Lightbody (Muppets Haunted Mansion, Muppets Now), and Leigh Slaughter (Muppets Haunted Mansion, Muppets Babies). The series is produced by Adam F. Goldberg Productions, ABC Signature, and The Muppets Studio.

The Muppets Mayhem received numerous nominations for the 2nd Annual Children’s and Family Emmy Awards distributed by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. According to TVLine, the series received nominations for Best Children’s Or Family Viewing Series, Best Directing For A Single Camera Program, Best Casting For A Live Action Program, and more.

Despite news of the cancellation, fans of The Muppets Mayhem can look forward to tuning into the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards Ceremony on Sunday, December 17th.
