Disney+ Announces Season Two Premiere Date for ‘The Mandalorian’

The Disney+ has announced the premiere date for the second season of its original series The Mandalorian, via The Verge. The upcoming season is scheduled for release on the streaming service on October 30th. Created by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Swingers), the Star Wars spin-off series premiered on November 12, 2019, making it one of the first original programs on the newly launched Disney+ platform. Its first season was released in its entirety of 8 hour-long episodes. The series is executive produced by the likes of Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Ponyo), Colin Wilson (Avatar, War of the Worlds, Small Soldiers), and many more.

The Mandalorian centers around a lone gunfighter in the titular character who goes about his day as a bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe. The series is set after the fall of the Empire in the first trilogy of Star Wars films and before the emergence of the First Order in the newest trilogy. The series’ cast includes Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) as the titular character as he interacts with a revolving door of supporting and recurring characters. The additional cast includes Werner Herzog (Jack Reacher, Heart of Glass), Carl Weathers (Rocky), Mark Boone Junior (Sons of Anarchy), Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, What We Do in the Shadows), Nick Nolte (Warrior), Gina Carano (Deadpool, Fast & Furious 6), Bill Burr (Breaking Bad), Amy Sedaris (BoJack Horseman, Elf), Omid Abtahi (American Gods), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Boys), and many more.

The Mandalorian second season was able to complete its production during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic due to remote work and will hit the streaming service on October 30. However, currently, there is no trailer nor announced episode count for the coming installment of the critically acclaimed Star Wars spin-off series.
