Disney+ Announces New Cast Members for New Star Wars Series ‘The Acolyte’

Disney+ has revealed who will join its new Star Wars series The Acolyte. Rumors about the cast have been going around but Disney has finally confirmed who will be working on this new series via Deadline.

According to Deadline, the newest actors and actresses to join the cast are Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials, Logan), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll, Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll, Ordinary Joe), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917, Game of Thrones), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix, Jessica Jones). Disney and Lucasfilm are keeping the details under wraps so there is no information about who they are playing or their overall role inside the Star Wars universe.

Disney had already announced the participation of other famous actors in the show. According to Deadline, award-winning Korean actor Lee Jung-Jae (Squid Game, Chief of Staff) has also joined the series alongside Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, The Hunger Games), Manny Jacinto (Top Gun: Maverick, The Good Place), and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, The Independent).

The series has already started production in the United Kingdom, as evidenced by the behind the scenes photos that can be found on the internet.

According to Deadline, the creator, showrunner, and executive producer is Leslye Headland (About Last Night, Pink & Blue) that previously worked on Netflix’s Russian Doll. The other executive producers behind the show are Kathleen Kennedy (Andor, Light & Magic), Simon Emanuel (The Batman, The Witcher), Jeff F. King (The Umbrella Academy, Blindspot),  and Jason Micallef (Heathers, Elvis & Nixon). Headland will also be directing the series pilot.

The new show will be set in the final days of the High Republic era. The show will be a mystery-thriller that will navigate viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers. A former Padawan and her Jedi Master reunite to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever expected.

The High Republic era has never appeared or been mentioned in any of the previous Lucasfilm projects. This is the first time this era will appear on the small screen. It has been previously explored in a book series that has been divided into three phases: Light of the Jedi, Quest of the Jedi, and Trials of the Jedi

While The Acolyte is still in production, the Star Wars series Andor, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are available to watch on Disney+.
