Discovery Channel 2014-2015 Upfront Programming

Discovery Channel announced their 2014-2015 upfront programming to include live specials and more.

The upfront programming includes live specials, specials, returning and new series. For the Discovery Channel viewers can expect some more live moments such as Everest Jump Live, Skyscraper Live with Nik Wallenda and Survival Live. Other series include Girl Gang of Talia and Dolphin: Spy in the Pod. Discovery will also have returning favorites such as Deadliest Catch, Fast N’ Loud, Gold Rush, Naked and Afraid, Bering Sea Gold and Moonshiners. They will also bring in all-motor themed Monday night programming with Motor Mondays and readies The West with Executive Producer Robert Redford.

Landmark Scripted Series

The West – This series, executive produced by Redford and Laura Michalchyshyn, will bring the stories of the West’s most infamous outlaws as they fight for their land and identity.

Live Specials

Everest Jump Live – Joby Ogwyn will attempt the first wing suit flight off the summit of Mount Everest. It will air in May with two, one-hour pre-shows showing Ogwyn’s training and preperations for Everest. The event will be a live two-hour broadcast.

Skyscraper Live With Nik Wallenda – Wallenda, “The King of the High Wire,” will try to cross the Chicago skyline, untethered in the fall of 2014.

Survival Live – A 42-day live event with eight survivalist must survive in a new 24/7 real time show. Viewers will be able to watch day or night as the survivalist struggle and build relationships with the audience through the cameras. The audience can choose to help out a survivalist and the survivalists will need the audience in their corner.

Natural History Specials

Dolphins: Spy In The Pod – Discovery Channel explores the secret lives of dolphins.

Girl Gang Of Talia – A gang of four tigress sisters reunited and do something extremely rare, they learned to hunt and live together.

Shark Week

Special Programming

Motor Mondays will feature Fast N’ Loud, Street Outlaws, #BikerLive and Lords of the Car Hoards. Motor Mondays will run each Monday for 52 weeks a year.

New Series

American Muscle – An all new Funny Or Die sports docu-series centering on legendary strength coad Mike Barwis.

#Bikerlive – An up-close look at bike build competitions with three regional competitors each episode and an interactive live voting aspect.

Edge Of Alaska – The series focuses on frontier life in an ‘Old West’ town in eastern Alaska.

Fat N’ Furious– It centers on the car junkies of Christmas Automotive as they hunt for “dead” cars and bring them back to life to put them on the racetrack.

Kodiak – Set on the remote location of Kodiak Island, this series follows three multi-generational families risking everything to live in this dangerous environment. They live on the edge and each day brings new challenges.

Siberian Cut (WT) – American Logger Sean Vann 17 years experience logging and he was contracted to log the world’s largest forest in Siberia. There will be two crews facing grueling obstacles in hopes of cutting timber that could lead them to their fortunes.

Tree People – In the American Pacific Northwest, a group of people lives in the treetops and do not take kindly to strangers. These communities of people live without modern amenities and live off the trees and forest.
