Diane Cook’s ‘New Wilderness’ Novel Will be Transformed into a Television Series by Warner Bros. Television

Matt Reeves’ (Let Me In) production company, 6th & Idaho, will be developing Diane Cook’s (MAN V. WILD) ‘New Wilderness’ Novel into a television series according to Variety. Cook will write the pilot and executive produce the show.

The dystopian-based novel has been longlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize and the story collection according to Harper’s Publisher official page.

On behalf of 6th & Idaho, Reeves, Daniel Pipski (From Dusk to Dawn: The Series), Adam Kassan (Puncture) will executive produce the show. Carly Wray (Watchmen) will act as a supervising producer.

The novel takes place within a smog and polluted metropolis area. A worrisome mother, Bea, is faced with the critical news of her five-year-old daughter, Agnes, facing mortality due to the environmental conditions. A decision is made by Bea to travel into the unknown land of the Wilderness State. Eighteen other individuals follow along, into the unquestionable fate in being the first to live in the contempt of nature while facing government involvement threats.

Cook has been published in the following publications: Harper’s, Tin House, Granta, and more. Her stories have been included in the anthologies Best American Short Stories and The O. Henry Prize Stories.
