The Hollywood Reporter learned exclusively that HBO is planing a new comedy developed by Diablo Cody and Oprah Winfrey.
The project is still untitled, but it is already known that it will be based on Dr. Julie Holland’s book “Moody Bitches: The Truth About the Drugs You’re Taking, the Sex You’re Not Having, The Sleep You’re Missing and What’s Really Making You Crazy,” which has yet to hit the stands.
The book’s plot is about drugs that people take nowadays and some surprising natural therapies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comedy will also “expose the truth about the drugs you’re taking, the sex you’re not having, the sleep you’re missing and what’s really making you crazy.”
Diablo Cody will be credited as creator of the untitled show and will not only write the script but also executive produce with Oprah and her banner Harpo Filmes. As for the book’s writer, Julie Holland, she’ll be credited as co-executive producer.
This is the second of Julie Holland’s book that gets a deal, following “Weekends at Bellevue: Nine Years on the Night Shift at the Psych ER,” which was picked up by FOX and went to pilot, but never moved forward to show.
There are no production dates or casting plans set for this new comedy as of right now.
