This past October, Showtime announced their crime series Dexter was getting revival in a limited series format consisting of ten episodes. Star of the show Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) is returning as Dexter Morgan, and now Showtime has announced four additional cast members joining the series, including Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Underground), Johnny Sequoya (Believe), and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird), as reported by Deadline.
In the upcoming limited series, Dexter is trading in palm trees for skyscrapers, as its original location of Miami, Florida is moving to New York. This dramatic change in location plays a major role in how the new cast members will play a part in the upcoming revival. The series is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
Deadline picked up the all four of the cast members character names along with how they will contribute to the plot in the ten part series: “Jones will play Angela Bishop, the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York. Sequoyah portrays Audrey, Bishop’s brash and opinionated teenage daughter. Miller will play Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school. Alcott is Randall, with whom Dexter (Hall) has a meaningful encounter.”
Clancy Brown (Thor Ragnorak) was also previously announced to be joining the series as truck driver Kurt Caldwell, who also serves as Iron Lake’s unofficial Mayor.
Dexter originally aired on Showtime from 2006 to 2013 and was extremely popular due to its unconventional anti-hero protagonist, Dexter. A self described vigilante, Dexter is a serial killer who delivers what he views as justice by murdering other violent killers throughout the Miami area. Hall won a Golden Globe for his performance.
Hall will executive produce the series along with the original showrunner Clyde Phillips (Suddenly Susan). John Goldwyn (Manhunt: Unabomber), Sara Colleton (Gone), Bill Carraro (Blade Runner 2049), Scott Reynolds (Jessica Jones) and Marcos Siega (The Following) will also executive produce.
