‘Devious Maids’ Following Necessitates Second Season

Devious Maids has been picked up for a second season on Lifetime, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Originally developed for ABC, Marc Cherry’s drama will feature 13 new episodes coming in 2014. After premiering June 23 with mediocre ratings of 2 million viewers (826,000 of them adults 18-49), the drama picked up momentum through the summer and hit series high two weeks ago of 2.9 million viewers (a 45 percent increase), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The drama has become the fastest growing show on Lifetime in its history, lending the network to rank No. 1 on Sundays at 10 p.m. among women. The series has seen strong gains in female viewership with a 74 percent boost since the preimere to 1.1 million women 18-49. 18 percent of the audience consist of Hispanics, almost doubling Lifetime’s primetime average, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“One of the most daring series on television, Devious Maids has quickly become a hit,” said Lifetime executive vice president and GM Rob Sharenow.
