David Schwimmer Helps NYPD with Stabbing Case

Friends alum David Schwimmer helped New York Police Department solve a stabbing case.

According to Entertainment Tonight News, Schwimmer handed over security camera footage that was a big help to the NYPD in solving the criminal assault and robbery case.

On May 26, the incident took place in an apartment adjacent to Schwimmer’s townhouse. Those involved included a transvestite prostitute, a 26-year-old john doe and a robber. The robber broke into the apartment and attempted to steal the johns laptop. The john doe attempted to stop the robber but was attacked by the prostitute and stabbed by the robber. The fight went from the apartment and out onto the street. It is there that Schwimmer’s surveillance video came in handy for the NYPD.

Police arrested Robert Rainey, 21, and charged him with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon and assault. Prior to obtaining the surveillance footage police only had information from some eye witnesses and conflicting accounts from the victim and suspect.

Schwimmer portrayed Ross Geller in the hit comedy series Friends which ran from 1994 till 2004.
