Deadline has reported that actor David Gail (Bending All the Rules, Savannah, Two Came Back), known for his roles in Beverly Hills 90210 and Port Charles, passed away at age 58. His death was announced by his sister as well as other sources.
Gail’s career was marked by his role as Dr. Joe Scanlon in Port Charles. He appeared in over 200 episodes of the General Hospital spin-off. Additionally, the actor’s portrayal of Stuart Carson, Shannen Doherty’s (Heathers, Mallrats, Hot Seat) fiancé in Beverly Hills, 90210, is another role he will be fondly remembered. He also appeared as Dean Collins in Savannah and had notable appearances in Growing Pains, Doogie Howser, M.D., and Murder, She Wrote.
His career was not limited to television. Gail starred in films including Bending All the Rules and Perfect Opposites. Furthermore, his role as Sam in an adventure video game for Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch reflects the diversity of his career as an actor.
The announcement came from his sister, Katie Colmenares, who broke the news on Instagram. In her post, she and Gail embrace on a porch. She wrote: “There’s barely been even a day in my life when you were not with me by my side always my wingman always my best friend ready to face anything and anyone w me the bears will never be the same but I will hold you so tight every day in my heart you gorgeous loving amazing fierce human being missing you every second of every day forever there will never be another 💔💖”
Pete Ferriero (Sorry, We’re Closed, Her Name Is Chef, The Price of Fame), host and producer of the Beverly Hills 90210 Show podcast, also paid tribute to the actor. He wrote: “In memory of David Gail. Here are a few stories he shared when he joined the podcast,” in an Instagram post of memorable moments of Gail’s appearances on the podcast.
The cause of his death is still unknown.
