Following Charlie Cox’s (Daredevil) Matt Murdock appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, a new Daredevil series is now in development for Disney+. According to Variety, Covert Affairs writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord will write the series and executive produce.
Rumors of a Daredevil series for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have long been rumored as characters from the series started to appear in the official MCU canon. Matt Murdock made a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) lawyer, and Vicent D’Onofrio reprised his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Hawkeye last December.
According to Variety, things seem to be moving forward for the series, but Marvel Studios has yet to comment on the news.
Fans have wanted more Daredevil content since the original Netflix series was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. Fans had hoped that Daredevil and the other Netflix characters would appear in the greater MCU, but a clause in the Marvel-Netflix deal prevented those characters from appearing in other non-Netflix projects two years after cancellation.
The Marvel-Netflix series came to Disney+ in March, furthering speculation that the characters could one day come back in the MCU. Daredevil will add to library of Disney+ series set in the MCU. Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac (Star Wars) recently wrapped, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law dropped its first trailer Tuesday, and first look at the Hawkeye spin-off Echo was released as well.
