‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Star Denies Theories of Adapting Frank Miller’s Storyline

According to ComicBook, Daredevil: Born Again, lead actor Charlie Cox (The Defenders, Kin), claims he doesn’t want fans of the series to assume the new Disney+ adaptation of Daredevil will be like Frank Miller’s (Sin City, The Spirit) comic with the same name. Cox claimed that the title of the series was chosen because it is renowned by comic fans as well as a rebirth and reboot of the series as Cox continues his role as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

“I don’t think anyone should read into the name as to the kind of stories that we’re going to tell”, Cox confirmed to inews according to ComicBook. This is claiming to fans that the story might not be anything like the comic with the same name. Fans of the Netflix series Daredevil can also be reassured as the character for the new adaptation will not be that different. Cox confirms this by stating, “I don’t think it’s a different character. I just think it’s maybe a different period of his life. I don’t think my interpretation will change they hired the same actor. We’re saying this is a whole new… era, or variant? I haven’t read the scripts, so I don’t know. But like, it’s part of the multiverse?”

The character of Daredevil is based on a Marvel Comics series that debuted in 1964. The series follows Matt Murdock, a blind man who by day, works as a lawyer and by night, fights crime as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Miller’s version of Daredevil shows him descending into insanity at Kingpin’s hands while struggling to create a new life for himself. Although Cox will not be playing the same character as in Miller’s comics he will still become the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Cox will once again take on the mantle of the hero but this time in a series that is connected to the Marvel cinematic universe.

Daredevil: Born Again won’t premiere until sometime in 2024.
