According to Variety, Charlie Cox (The Defenders, Kin) has stated that the new Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again will be scheduled to shoot for eleven months in 2023. The Marvel Cinematic Universe recently debuted Cox not only as cameo in Spiderman: No Way Home but also as a guest spot in the new She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series as Daredevil. This is following the approval of his continuation of the role as he also portrayed him in the Netflix adaptation Daredevil. With his continuation as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, the actor joins the MCU as the leading role in Daredevil: Born Again, a series he states will not be as gory on the Disney+ platform.
Variety expresses that Cox during an interview with NME says, “They said to me, ‘We’re going to be shooting in 2023’,” Cox said. “I said, ‘Great, when?’ They said, ‘All 2023’. I start shooting in February and finish in December”. The eleven months shooting of the series will start sometime in February and take up a good majority of the actors’ year as it is scheduled to finish in December. The first season of the series will also contain eighteen episodes.
In the interview with NME Cox also states, “My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards slightly more mature audience”. He also told NME, “My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory. I would say to people hoping the Disney+ show copies the Netflix show, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”
The character of Daredevil is based on a Marvel Comics series that debuted in 1964. The series follows Matt Murdock, a blind man who by day works as a lawyer and by night fights crime as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. In 2003, a film adaptation of the character was created as Murdock, was played by Ben Affleck (Justice League, City On a Hill). Fast forward to 2015 as Cox portrayed the vigilante in a series adaptation created for Netflix which spanned three seasons. Fans can’t wait to see what Cox can continue to do with the character in the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again.
Daredevil: Born Again won’t premiere until sometime in 2024.
