Dann Florek from ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Leaves the Show

The last episode with the cast member will air in January.

Dann Florek, who has played the role of Captain Cragen on NBC since 1999, announced via Twitter that the will exit the series, as reported the The Wrap. Also, the actor added that he received his “sweet send off” on Friday, which was his last day. “Friday was the last day 4 Cragen/Florek,” the actor tweeted. “It was a sweet send off! But he’ll live on in syndication land 4 evah!”

The showrunner also tweeted a photo from the set and wrote, “Saluting the Captain at the close of his 401st episode — all respect to @dannflorek.”

Florek’s original role was as Don Cragen, a police captain, on the first season of the original Law & Order which he left after the third season. According to Deadline, the actor was brought back in 1998 for the TV movie called Exiled: A Law & Order Movie and after became the head of the spin-off SVU in 1999. Dann Florek was present in the show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for 15 consecutive seasons.
