According to Comicbook, since the confirmation of HBO developing TV series adaptation of the Harry Potter novel franchise by J.K. Rowling (Troubled Blood, The Ink Black Heart), many of the widely known roles will be played by a whole new set of cast members. Daniel Radcliffe (Guns Akimbo, Swiss Army Man), who played Harry in the film franchise, recently confirmed that he doubts that they would offer him a chance to cameo as a different character in the new series.
Radcliffe confirmed with ComicBook, “My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh, and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere. So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way. But I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world, and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”
According to Comicbook, the Wizarding World was originally supposed to continue its franchise with the Fantastic Beast films, but after a lackluster reaction to the three films Warner Bros. paused the production of the possible remaining two. The new series will involve a whole new casing and its take on the novel franchise, for it can set itself apart from popular films.
The new television series by HBO has yet to start production or even reveal the official casting. The series is rumored to premiere in late 2025 or even early 2026. The entire Harry Potter film franchise is available to stream on Max.
Many fans of Radcliffe can still catch him on the small screen for season four of the anthology series Miracle Workers, which will premiere on July 10th on TBS.
