“Dancing on the Edge” Gets US Premiere Date

The BBC miniseries Dancing on the Edge, which aired in the UK earlier this year, is scheduled to debut stateside on Starz in October.

Via the Hollywood Reporter, Dancing on the Edge tells the story of the Louis Lester Band, a jazz group of black musicians who play at various clubs in 1930s London. The series follows the band as it rises in prominence and its members are forced to deal with “racist resistance among the city’s aristocrats and, ultimately, a murder mystery.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Children of Men”) stars as Louis Lester, the band leader himself. The cast also includes Matthew Goode (“A Single Man”), John Goodman (“Argo”), Angel Coulby (Merlin), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Jacqueline Bisset (Nip/Tuck), and is written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff (Capturing Mary).

The series’ five-episode run is the second BBC import coming to Starz in recent months. The White Queen, another BBC series, will premiere on the network on August 10.
