‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ on its Last Legs, According to Jerry Seinfeld

Jerry Seinfeld said most likely there will not be a 12th season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee during a Netflix this virtual conference with the streaming service. Seinfeld told Deadline, “Now I feel like I just want to be out on a stage, I don’t really care where, I don’t care what size of venue, it’s just about enjoying that moment and it doesn’t have to be big or a conventional show business venture.”

During the virtual conference, Seinfeld promoted his new Netflix special 23 Hours To Kill, debuting on May 5. While he alluded to this being his last live stand-up performance, he also explained his lack of motivation towards Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

He told Dateline, “We haven’t planned anything with that show. I feel like I did that tour… I know they look very casual and easy but they’re actually a lot of work to make, the editing is very intense and I don’t know, I feel like I may have done that exploration at this point.”

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, originally made available Crackle, went to Netflix for its tenth season, and released season 11 July of 2019. Many big-name comedians have joined Seinfeld during season 11, such as Seth Rogen (The Interview), Jamie Foxx (In Living Color), and Eddie Murphy (Dr. Dolittle), to name a few.

Seinfeld plans to begin more live performances, once COVID-19 is no longer of concern. He told Dateline, “It’s really about obsessing mostly on the art and the moment of creating something that is great but doesn’t necessarily tie to a deal or production, a network and all of those other things that you think about with show business.”

23 Hours To Kill is available on Netflix May 5.
