‘Cobra Kai’ Season Four Strikes with First Teaser, Announces December Premiere Date

Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride full of jump kicks and sucker punches as Cobra Kai has returned. The series released its first footage from the upcoming fourth season, and also announced it will premiere on Netflix in December, 2021, via Entertainment Weekly

There is no shortage of drama in the first look at Cobra Kai’s new season, as the thing Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso hold dearest is at stake:  the All Valley Karate Tournament. Beckoning back memories of 1984 when Johnny and Daniel were just two kids battling it out at San Fernando Valley’s most prestigious competition, season four is returning to its roots.

Kicking it off with dramatic shots of black belts being tightened, a silhouette of Johnny Lawrence walking down a dark corridor all suited up, and knuckles being cracked, the stakes have never been higher. The narrator of the trailer declares, “Fasten your gi, tie your belt, Karate is coming to the world’s biggest stage, where legends are born. Welcome back to the All Valley Karate Tournament.”

From there, the camera introduces all the major players return as they perform various maneuvers in preparation for the ultimate showdown. William Zabka (Most) is back as Lawrence and Ralph Macchio (The Deuce) is back as LaRusso as they lead their students into battle. Enter the students in full swing, with the return of Xolo Mariduena (Parenthood) as Miguel, Mary Mouser (Scandal) as Sam, Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor) as Robby, and Peyton List (Bunk’d) as Tory.

The teaser also announced the new season will be arriving in December, though no specific date has been given as of yet.  Zabka himself tweeted in support of the newest teaser, writing on Twitter: “It’s not just karate tournament. It’s a battle for the soul of the Valley. Cobra Kai Season 4 is coming this December to Netflix!.” And speaking of competition, Cobra Kai is heading in for a big one as it’s been nominated for Best Comedy Series at the upcoming Emmy Awards ceremony on September 19.
