The cast of the MCU Disney+ crossover event, Secret Invasion, continues to expand. According to Deadline, Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) is set to reprise her role as Nick Fury’s right hand, Maria Hill.
Smulders previously played the character in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Infinity War, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. She recently received praise for her role as Ann Coulter in FX’s American Crime Story: Impeachment.
Secret Invasion will follow a faction of the shape-shifting race, the Skrulls, infiltrating every aspect of life on Earth.
The series will star Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) and Ben Mendelsohn (Captain Marvel) reprising their roles as Nick Fury and Talos, respectively. Also on the cast are Olivia Colman (The Crown), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami…), Christopher McDonald (The Iron Giant), and Killian Scott (Dublin Murders).
Disney+ gave fans a sneak peek at the series during its Disney+ Day event where Jackson’s Nick Fury is seen without his signature eye patch.
Secret Invasion is currently in production and is planned for release in 2022.
