Co-Creator Of Apple TV+’s ‘Shrinking’ Brett Goldstein Joins Season Two Cast As Guest Star

Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), one of the creators of Apple TV+’s dramedy series Shrinking, is set to have guest role on the series come its second season. According to TVLine, the details surrounding Goldstein’s role have not been revealed.

However, as per TVLine, Goldstein verified in video interview with Theo James (The White Lotus) last year during Variety’s Actors on Actors series on YouTube that there was a “talk” with the creatives working on Shrinking about him being written into the show for season two.

TVLine notes that Goldstein made a joke to James in the video by saying, “I’ll only do it if it’s a sexy part.” He then said, “I don’t want to be there for the sake of — just ’cause I want to hang out with [the cast].”

In Shrinking, Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) portrays Jimmy, a grieving therapist who begins giving harsh and honest advice to his clients after his wife’s unfortunate passing. Other series stars include Ted McGinley (Married…with Children), Harrison Ford (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Jessica Williams (2 Dope Queens), Lukita Maxwell (Generation), Crista Miller (Scrubs) and Luke Tennie (Players).

Goldstein is notably known for his role in Ted Lasso for Apple TV+, where he played Roy Kent, an out-of-sorts football player for three seasons. His role led him to obtain two Primetime Emmys for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

TVLine also notes that, even though Ted Lasso wrapped with three seasons last spring, the series’ future remains unknown. Channing Dungey (Showtime), chairperson from Warner Bros. Television Group, sat down with Variety in January and said, “You watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be. I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for Ted Lasso. And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for Ted Lasso. Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back into making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”
