According to The Hollywood Reporter, CNN Early Start anchor and chief of business correspondent Christine Romans (CNN Newsroom, Inside Politics) has recently decided to exit from the cable news channel. Romans announced her decision to depart last Friday morning and her last day on the channel was today. She is known for her work on the network as well as writing three books titled Smart Is the New Rich: If You Can’t Afford it—Put It Down, How to Speak Money, and Smart Is the New Rich Money Guide for Millennials.
Romans told The Hollywood Reporter, “It’s impossible to sum up 24 wonderful and transformative years at CNN, but here it goes: five elections, a dot-com boom and bust, 9/11, a housing bubble and financial crisis, and a global pandemic. Oh…and a wedding, three baby boys, three books and 10 years of 3 a.m. wake-up calls! I’ve climbed the mountain and it’s time for me to climb a new one, but I’m forever grateful to have worked alongside some of the most talented journalists in the business.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Romans has been a staple of CNN business coverage since 1999 and part of the morning show for the past decade. Even though she has made the decision recently to leave it does not seem like she will be jumping to another television news competitor. A long standing business journalist Romans joined CNN from Reuters and spent much of the first few years of her career at CNN reporting from the New York Stock Exchange. She generated a reputation for being able to break down economic news and for interviewing CEOs such as Disney’s Bob Iger, JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon, and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
