‘Claws’ Karrueche Tran Joins BET’s ‘Games People Play’ For Second Season

BET’s Games People Play has added Karrueche Tran (Claws, A Weekend with the Family) for its upcoming second season, via Shadow and Act. Tran will have a full-season arc as the series’ star, Lauren London (ATL, I Love You, Beth Cooper), will appear in a limited role. Games People Play is a drama based on Angela Burt-Murray’s (The Vow) novel, Games Divas Play. It follows the lustful lives of professional basketball players, their wives, and the people who come in between.

According to Shadow and Act, Tran will play Eden Lazlo, the new VP of Basketball Operations for her father’s Los Angeles-based team, the Vipers. She joins a cast that includes Sarunas J. Jackson (Insecure, Good Trouble), Karen Obilom (Show Me What You Got), Parker McKenna Posey (My Wife & Kids, Alice Upside Down), Jackie Long (Bodied, Idlewild) and Kendall Kyndall (Child’s Play).

In a statement from BET via Shadow and Act, the second season will pick up many first season cliffhangers. London and Jackson’s Marques and Vanessa are set to learn the paternity of their child. Meanwhile, Marques struggles to maintain control both “on and off the court.” Obilom’s Nia is investigating a secret society, but it will strain her relationship with MJ and Laila, played by Kyndall and Posey, respectively.

Tran is mostly known for her role as Virginia on TNT’s dramedy Claws. The show starring Niecy Nash (Reno 911, Uncorcked), Carrie Preston (The Good Fight), Jack Kesy (Blood Brother, Without Remorse), Jenn Lyon (Saint George, Justified), Judy Reyes (Scrubs, Succession), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, Under the Dome), and Harold Perrineau (Oz, Lost) wrapped up its third season last year. It was renewed for a fourth and final season.

Games People Play is executive produced by Tracey Edmonds (Soul Food, Hav Plenty) through Edmonds Entertainemnt, according to Shadow and Act. Burt-Murray produces along with the series showrunner, Vanessa Middleton (Saturday Night Live, Meet the Browns).
