The Irish sitcom Moone Boy has won the Emmy for the best comedy at the 41st International Emmy Awards celebrated on Monday. The series, co-written and co-starred by Chris O’Dowd, is being currently streamed on Hulu.

Chris O’Dowd collected the award with the writer Nick Vincent Murphy. Both were delighted and didn’t expect the award at all. “We’ve been focused on drinking tonight,” Murphy joked.

After winning the Emmy, the Irish actor tweeted “we may have won” and attached a picture with the award.

Moone Boy tells the story of a young boy who relies on the help of his imaginary friend Sean to deal with the quandaries of life in a wacky small-town Irish family in the 1980’s.

The ceremony was hosted by British comedian John Oliver and presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
