‘Chernobyl’ Actor Robert Emms Joins Cast of Disney+’s ‘Andor’

The force is strong with the cast of the Rogue One television series spinoff, Andor. According to Deadline, Robert Emms (His Dark Materials) has signed on to the series, which is currently filming in the United Kingdom this summer.

Andor is set to follow Cassian Andor, a character who Star Wars fans first met in Rogue One. The series will take place in the period of time prior to the formation of the rebellion, via Deadline. Diego Luna (Y Tu Mamá También) will reprise his role as Andor.

In addition to Emms and Luna, Denise Gough (Robin Hood), Adria Arjona (Life of the Party), Genevieve O’Reilly (Star Wars: Episode III: The Phantom Menace), Stellan Skarsgård (Thor: The Dark World), Kyle Soller (An Inspector Calls), and Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I) are set to star in the series, via Deadline. Also attached to the series is Toby Haynes (director, Doctor Who), who wills serve as the head director for Andor‘s first season, which is set to be 12 episodes long.

Andor’s other directors include Ben Caron (director, The Crown) and Susanna White (Our Kind of Traitor). According to Deadline, Stephen Schiff (writer, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) and Tony Gilroy (writer, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) serve as the series’ primary writers.

According to Deadline, Andor is expected to wrap on production in late summer, and will likely begin streaming on Disney+ sometime in 2022. Another highly-anticipated Star Wars Disney+ original series is the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which, like Andor, began filming in the United Kingdom in early June.

While Emms role in Andor is currently unknown, he is best knowing for starring in Atlantis, Happy Valley, and Cleaning Up, via Deadline. Emms additionally appeared in Apostasy, War Horse, and the upcoming film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
