Charlie Cox Expects To Continue Playing ‘Daredevil’ In MCU

In a new interview with YouTube Channel HeyUGuys, Charlie Cox said he expects that he will continue playing Daredevil within the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his character was briefly introduced into the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The action series was canceled after three seasons by Netflix in 2018.

“I think at this point, I expect to be involved in some capacity,” Cox said during the interview. “Otherwise, it would be a bit of a weird one-scene moment. I don’t know much, I know a little, and what I do know I’m very excited about… there’s a chance it could be the next ten years of my life.”

Cox told the YouTube Channel about how he felt when he was asked to bring back his character, also named Matt Murdock, for the latest Spider-Man film.

“It’s a relief to be able to talk about it. You know, getting that phone call was a life-changing moment, really,” Cox explained. “My involvement with that character and the MCU was dead and buried, I hadn’t heard anything for a couple of years and so I’d moved on. It was incredibly unexpected and out of the blue.”

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had confirmed to CinemaBlend in December that if Daredevil would ever return in the MCU, Cox would be playing him.

“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil. Where we see that, how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen,” Feige said.

Cox also told HeyUGuys about an interesting interaction he had with Feige in 2019.

“I did a play in 2019 with Tom Hiddleston and Kevin Feige came to see our play. And, you know, I went and shook hands with him and said hi and he said how much he enjoyed the play. Never mentioned Daredevil or anything like that. So it turns out he’s a very good liar as well,” Cox said.

It is unclear as of now when Cox will return as Daredevil once again as a part of the MCU, but based on Cox’s comments, it sounds like fans of the show may not be waiting for much longer.
