Charlie Cox Confirmed To Return As Daredevil In Marvel Cinematic Universe

During a press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Fiege confirmed that star of the Netflix Daredevil series, Charlie Cox (Stardust, The Defenders), will return to play the titular character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Cox played Daredevil (Matt Murdock) from 2015-2018 for three seasons. The original show launched a plethora of other Marvel-related titles on the streaming platform such as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.

“If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil,” Feige told CinemaBlend during the tour on Sunday.

Fiege, Cox or other Marvel executives have yet to announce Daredevil-related projects for Cox to reprise the role in.

“Where we see [Cox as Daredevil], how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen,” Feige said.

Fans have been quick to speculate and theorize on wether or not Cox will appear in the new Spider-Man movie after blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the first trailer. However, after that trailer’s release, Cox went on to debunk and deny rumors of himself being in the movie in an interview with Forbes. Cox said he didn’t want to ruin anything for fans, but also added that he didn’t want to ruin his own chances at returning to play the character.

“My answer is no comment; I don’t know what’s going to happen. I genuinely don’t know,” Cox said to Forbes.

Spiderman: No Way Home is set to premiere on Dec. 17th and (at the time of reporting this) there is no word that Cox will be appearing in the movie as the man without fear.

“I don’t know. I have no idea,” Cox said. “I love how passionate the fans are and I feel very, very, very touched that so many of them have gone online and made their voices heard about the desire for me to come back.”

This news comes after fans continuously suspect a character from Cox’s show may appear in the new Hawkeye series on Disney Plus. That character would be none other than Vincent D’nofrio’s (Men In Black, Jurassic World) Kingpin and interested fans can read about those  theories here.
