The comedic adult animated series, South Park is no stranger to breaking boundaries and unleashing ground breaking skits. According to Comicbook, the latest episode of the series’ 28th season named “Sora Not Sorry” delves into two parallel storylines and explores the dangers. Furthermore, we see that Eric, Stan, voiced by Trey Parker (Despicable Me 3, BASEketball) Kyle, Kenny and Butters voiced by Matt Stone (The Aristocrats, Sassy Justice ) transported into surprising scenarios and with a shocking cameo from none other than Studio Gibihil’s Totoro.
Stated by Comicbook, this isn’t the first time that Totoro made a cameo with the series, as back in the two part special of 11th season, the episode “Imagination” transported the boys visit an alternative world that brought fictional characters to life. Furthermore, the creatures gets locked up in a nightmare scenario alongside Butters, while the Ghibli animators themselves wind up thrown into prison by the clueless residents.
Reported by Comicbook, Totoro isn’t the only prominent crossover character that the group encounter in the latest episode, as they meet the likes of Bluey, Popeye, and Bullwinkle. Another case of the series poking fun was back in the eighth season’s “Good Times With Weapons”, in which the gang were reimagined and had an anime makeover and equipped with ninja tools.
Comicbook reports, there is only two more episode left within the current season which are scheduled for November 26 and December 10. This is not the end of the series though, as it has been renewed for four more seasons, which means viewers can expected more crazy shenanigans from the gang.
Whether you find this crossover hilarious or deeply uncomfortable may hinge on your comfort level with media being dragged through the mud for comedy’s sake. The new seasons will surely deliver the same level blend of satire and current news that have made the series well-known.
All seasons and episodes of South Park are available to stream on Paramount+.
