‘Celebrity Name Game’ will Launch in 80 Percent of U.S.

The game show hosted by Craig Ferguson will debut in September 2014.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will air in 19 of the top 20 television markets, meaning more than 80 percent of the U.S.

The game show will appear on 58 station owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group (including Tampa and Minneapolis) and on four owned CBS stations (Boston, Atlanta, Detroit and San Francisco).

Bill Butler, the vice president at Sinclair programming and production said that, “Celebrity Name Game makes a strong addition to our access and early fringe lineup, given the success we’ve enjoyed with Family Feud in these same time periods.”

Celebrity Name Game is developed by Coquette Productions of Courtney Cox and David Arquette alongside Scott St. John, Laura Robinson and Richard Gerrits.

Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, the co-presidents of Debmar Mercury (a division of Lionsgate) said as reported by THR that, “To have Sinclair, CBS and previously Tribune, three of the nation’s premier broadcast groups, as well as other large-market stations, step up to secure it so quickly is a major vote of confidence in Craig and the show.”

The show is actually based on the board game called Identity Crisis. The celebrities have to make a team with the contestants so they can identify famous names of actors, singers, politicians, etc.
