CBS is moving the supernatural drama Evil to Paramount Plus for the show’s second season, according to Variety. The changeup falls in line with recent trends by media conglomerates to make their streaming services priority, despite an everchanging landscape (see yesterday’s announcement of the Discovery and WarnerMedia merger).
Variety reports that CBS shows SEAL Team and Clarice will join Evil in the move to the ViacomCBS streaming platform. CBS representatives declined to comment.
Evil was renewed for a second season just a month after its premiere in September 2019, according to Variety. But online buzz didn’t start building until after the show’s first season was released on Netflix in October 2020.
Evil was created by the team behind The Good Wife, Robert and Michelle King (The Good Fight). The show stars Katja Herbers (Westworld) as Kristen Bouchard, a forensic psychologist whose faith in science and reason is tested as she investigates paranormal events with a Catholic Church investigator (Mike Colter, Luke Cage) and a technical expert (Aasif Mandvi, Blue Bloods). Christine Lahti (The Blacklist) appears as Bouchard’s mother.
After delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the second season began filming in November in New York City, according to Variety. Fans assumed it would premiere in the spring, but a date has not yet been announced.
