

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has renewed before medical drama Watson for a second season. The news comes after the show’s first season, which has achieved high ratings for the series airing on Sunday nights.
Watson aired to 9.58 million viewers in late January and grew to 18.7 million cross-platform viewers over five weeks, with 7 million of those watching on Paramount+. The series averages just under 6.8 million viewers per episode in Nielsen’s linear data.
The official logline for the mystery medical series reads as follows: “Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. Watson is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.”
The cast of the series includes Morris Chestnut (The Best Man, Kick-Ass 2) as Watson, Tommy O’Brien (Stumptown, Shameless) as Zach, Eve Harlow (The 100, Next) as Dr. Ingrid Derian, Inga Schlingmann (So Help Me Todd, Life Coach) as Dr. Sasha Lubbock, Bethany Brown (The Good Doctor, Plan B) as Devin Chaplin, Danny Mac (Blockbuster, Bullet Proof)) as Nurse Beck, Shannon Berry (High Country, Winner) as Autumn and many others.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series showrunner Craig Sweeny (The Code) executive produces Watson alongside Chestnut, Sallie Patrick (The Lost Symbol), Larry Teng (Person of Interest), Shäron Moalem (Home & Family) MD, PhD, Aaron Kaplan (The Unicorn) of Kapital Entertainment and Brian Morewitz (A Million Little Things).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is part of the latest 2025 renewal for the network joining fellow dramas Elsbeth, FBI, Fire Country, Matlock, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney and Tracker and comedies Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Ghosts and The Neighborhood.
Watson is available to stream on Paramount+. CBS has yet to announce when production of the series will start.
