2 Broke Girls will not be going forward with a seventh season.
Negotiations between CBS and Warner Bros. TV went to the last minute, but ultimately CBS decided to cancel the long-running comedy series, Deadline reports. The news comes just after CBS gave orders to two new Warner Bros. TV shows, By the Book and Me, Myself & I.
2 Broke Girls was a major success for CBS right out of the gate when it premiered in Fall 2011, and was the network’s youngest-skewing comedy. The series hasn’t been able to sustain its original numbers, averaging a 1.8 Live+7 rating in adults 18-49 for season 6. 2 Broke Girls‘ numbers are not the greatest to be sure, but apparently the final nail in the coffin for the series came in the form of failed negotiations between CBS and Warner Bros. TV in regard to the series’ backend. One can understand CBS’ desire to see some of that money, considering that Warner Bros. TV was able to make a wopping $1.7 million per episode selling the series to TBS alone.
Created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, 2 Broke Girls follows the misadventures of two down on their luck waitresses trying to raise enough money to start a cupcake business. The series stars Kat Dennings, Beth Behrs, Garrett Morris, Jonathan Kite, Matthew Moy, and Jennifer Coolidge.
