CBS All Access Expands Slate of Animated Originals With ‘The Multivorce’

CBS All Access will expand its collection of original adult animated series with the upcoming series The Multivorce, as reported by Deadline. The series will explore the comedy and tragedy of a family going through divorce against the backdrop of a dangerous multiverse.

The Multivorce was described by Deadline as “Marriage Story mixed with Rick and Morty.” The series will follow the three children of the Gunderson family as they deal with the fallout of their parents’ divorce. However, their mother is the queen of a kingdom in the multiverse. Every weekend, the kids are sent to this kingdom to spend time with their mother, accompanying her on dangerous adventures.

The series is co-created by Scott Mosier (Free Birds) and Kirker Butler (Family Guy). Mosier is a frequent collaborator with Kevin Smith (The Flash), beginning his career by producing and acting in Smith’s first film Clerks. Mosier would later producer several of Smith’s subsequent films, including Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Clerks II, and several more. Mosier got his start in animation with developing and executive producing ABC’s Clerks: The Animated Series. Butler was nominated for two Emmy Awards for his work on Family Guy and its spin-off series The Cleveland Show. He has written for both animated and live-action sitcoms, including the aforementioned Seth MacFarlane (Ted) productions and ABC’s The Neighbors.

Kapital Entertainment and CBS TV Studios are producing The Multivorce. The new series is a part of a large effort by ViacomCBS to revamp their streaming service.
