CBS All Access Drops Trailer for ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’

The streaming service CBS All Access has released new trailer for the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, according to Deadline. The new animated comedy’s first season will consist of ten-episodes on the streaming platform. Unlike other streaming series, this upcoming animated program’s episodes will be released weekly instead of all at once. The show is created by Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty) and will be executive produced by the likes of Katie Krentz (Steven Universe), Trevor Roth (Star Trek: Discovery), Rod Roddenberry (Star Trek: Picard), Aaron Baiers (Limitless, Star Trek: Discovery), Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, The Mummy), and Heather Kadin (Sleepy Hollow) in addition to McMahan.

Star Trek: Lower Decks will center on the U.S.S. Cerritos in 2380 and its crew within the Star Trek universe. The animated series will be the first animated installment of the Star Trek franchise dating back until the 1973 series Star Trek: The Animated Series. The show’s cast follows the main characters Beckett Mariner, played by Tawny Newsome (Space Force), and Brad Boimier, voiced by Jack Quaid (The Boys, The Hunger Games). The series’ additional cast includes the likes of Eugene Cordero (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Tacoma FD), Noel Wells (Master of None, Craig of the Creek), Jerry O’Connell (Jerry Maguire, Stand by Me), Dawnn Lewis (Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper), Gillian Vigman (New Girl, Suburgatory), and Fred Tatasciore (The Emperor’s New School).

The CBS All Access series Star Trek: Lower Decks is set to debut on the platform on August 6 and, as stated before, its episodes will be released on a weekly episodic schedule. Currently, there is no announcement for a second season renewal for the upcoming television program. CBS All Access subscriptions start at $5.99 (USD) per month in addition to offering a free trial.
