CBS All Access Drops Season Three Trailer for ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

The streaming service CBS All Access has released the season three trailer for Star Trek: Discovery on the television franchises’ 54th anniversary, according to Deadline. September 8 marks the date for which the original Star Trek television series premiered and has become its own Star Trek Day with a panel for its spin-off series such as Star Trek: Strange New World and Star Trek: Lower Decks

Star Trek: Discovery acts as a prequel series to the parent program offering the perspective and experiences of crew members aboard the USS Discovery approximately a decade prior. The series’ narrative centers on these galactic experiences and obstacles such as the war between the United Federation of Planets and Klingons. The show’s cast includes the likes of Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead, New Girl) as Michael Burnham, Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful) as Voq or Ash Tyler, Anthony Rapp (Dazed and Confused) as Paul Stamets, and Doug Jones (The Shape of Water, Hellboy) as Saru. 

Additional cast members include Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Harry Potter), Wilson Cruz (13 Reasons Why), Mary Wiseman (Longmire), Anson Mount (Inhumans, Hell on Wheels), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and David Ajala (Supergirl, Nightflyers).

The series is created by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, American Gods) and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers, Star Trek) and has currently amassed 29 episodes over its first two seasons. This upcoming third season is set to consist of 13 episodes and will premiere on October 15 on the CBS All Access streaming platform. Star Trek: Discovery is executive produced by the likes of Rod Roddenberry (Star Trek: Picard), Heather Kadin (Scorpion, Limitless), Aaron Harberts (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), Fuller, Kurtzman, and many more.
